The Weakest and Poorest of Americans

My good buddy Jeshua posted a powerful entry to his blog on October 17th. Here is a link to his entry: Budget Cuts After Lousy Planning

I have always admired Jeshua for his ability to take a strong stand for his beliefs, and to express himself in a way that most of us can’t. It’s easy to be upset, and it’s easy to be discouraged, but Jeshua gives me the courage to post my beliefs here. There are a lot of us Christians, and us Americans, that think about the poor. I hope it’s a virus that’s catching. I hope it can travel with the birds. That’s an avian flu that could bring real change.

In Europe, the government takes care of its citizens. Is there something here that we own, that we control, that is so much better than what they have? Why do we, as a nation, cling to out deep-seeded love of the rich?

I believe this discussion goes far deeper than even politics can explain. Deeper than religion can explain.
